How do I organise blood test results over time?
A safe blood-test record keeps dates, units, reference ranges and context together so you can prepare better questions for a qualified clinician.
Short answer
Keep the collection date, marker name, value, unit and the laboratory’s own reference range together. Add a short context note and retain the original report; do not turn a trend into a diagnosis by yourself.
Preserve the report’s wording
Record values and units exactly as shown. Reference ranges can vary by laboratory, method and context, so a generic range should not replace the report’s own range.
Add the surrounding timeline
A note about sleep, training, symptoms or a treatment event you chose to record can help you and your clinician remember what was happening around the collection date.
Turn the record into questions
A trend is a prompt for a conversation, not an answer. Select the dates and markers that matter, then ask a qualified clinician what follow-up is appropriate for you.
