What is TDEE?
Total daily energy expenditure is an estimate of the calories you use in a day: your basal metabolic rate (the energy your body uses at rest) multiplied by an activity factor.
Which formula does this use?
The Mifflin–St Jeor equation (1990) for basal metabolic rate, multiplied by a standard activity factor from 1.2 for little structured exercise to 1.9 for hard daily training or physical work.
How accurate is it?
Treat it as a starting point. Real needs commonly differ by around 10% either way, which is why the result shows a range. Logging intake and body weight for two to three weeks shows your actual maintenance.
How do I use the number?
Eating close to your TDEE tends to keep body weight stable over time. Comparing your logged intake with your weight trend is the most reliable way to see how your own body responds.
